Previous experience of coaching

The CAL approach uses African-sensitive coaching principles backed by research, such as storytelling, narratives and systemic constellations and promotes the following principles:

  • Sensitivity to societal context:Understanding African leaders’ worldviews by recognising the societal norms and traditions they navigate
  • Appropriate alignment: Ensures the coaching process respects and acknowledges how cultural traditions can help or hinder leadership barriers when leading others
  • Authentic leadership: Coachees are encouraged to be their true selves, ensuring career choices are genuine and effective while balancing traditions with modern leadership practices.
  • Holistic growth and development: The coaching process values personal, professional and community influences, recognising that success comes from acknowledging and nurturing all these aspects
